I am not a new player but always makes simple mistakes and I miss simple traps of opponents. How can I work or do I need to lessons?

The same used to happen with me, so i think all you need is focus. Think and consider atleast 2-3 next moves before playing your turn. It makes it easier to check if your move would entrap your own piece. And chess.com lessons & puzzles often come handy. Also, avoid quick moves because that it when blundered are most likely to occur. Lastly, you can enable the option where you can play your move and place whatever piece on the new square, and once you have played your move, you can select the tick option to confirm your choice. And if u feel that the new position might not be safe as it looked before, you still can change it.

First of all thanks for your advices. I will try to do all. I hope It will work. What do you think about new tactics and traps? How can I learn it?

Um that you ll learn after falling for them for a few times😂. A common one is Scholar's Mate. It is the 4 mate move. Most people overlook the incoming mate(even i did quite a lot of times until i went through the files properly). Then theres a 6 move mate which is a continuation of this. So incase you are able to spot and avoid the earlier mate, you are likely fall for this one. So u ll learn many such tactics gradually while playing w players with higher ratings. Forks with knight also are painful so you need to keep an eye on their moves prior. And I would recommend you to watch chess streams and follow GothamChess on youtube. Hes just amazing. And Puzzles on this app are sufficient too. You can try PuzzleRush & PuzzleBattle modes too.

Do tactics puzzles, a lot of them.

More difficult ones will force you to calculate deeply, and here is how I usually go about this!
Look for candidate moves,

(what many people use to look for such candidate moves is looking for checks, captures, and threats in a position)

calculate each continuation one at a time until you reach a definitive conclusion, then either discard that continuation and calculate a different one, or if it is correct all that remains is executing that line on the board.

To give an extra (optional) challenge, don’t move a piece until you’ve fully calculated the solution to the problem.

In doing this I have increased the speed and potency my calculation and visualization abilities significantly.

Always check your intended move is no blunder before you play it.
This little mental discipline alone will get you to 1500.
As long as you hang pieces and pawns all the rest is in vain.

It is a dream to become 1500 :)

Dear Dilos30,

I am a certified, full-time chess coach, so I hope I can help you. happy.png Everybody is different, so that's why there isn't only one general way to learn. First of all, you have to discover your biggest weaknesses in the game and start working on them. The most effective way for that is analysing your own games. Of course, if you are a beginner, you can't do it efficiently because you don't know too much about the game yet. There is a built-in engine on chess.com which can show you if a move is good or bad but the only problem that it can't explain you the plans, ideas behind the moves, so you won't know why is it so good or bad.

You can learn from books or Youtube channels as well, and maybe you can find a lot of useful information there but these sources are mostly general things and not personalized at all. That's why you need a good coach sooner or later if you really want to be better at chess. A good coach can help you with identifying your biggest weaknesses and explain everything, so you can leave your mistakes behind you. Of course, you won't apply everything immediately, this is a learning process (like learning languages), but if you are persistent and enthusiastic, you will achieve your goals. happy.png

In my opinion, chess has 4 main territories (openings, strategies, tactics/combinations and endgames). If you want to improve efficiently, you should improve all of these skills almost at the same time. That's what my training program is based on. My students really like it because the lessons are not boring (because we talk about more than one areas within one lesson) and they feel the improvement on the longer run. Of course, there are always ups and downs but this is completely normal in everyone's career. happy.png

I hope this is helpful for you. happy.png Good luck for your games! happy.png

My take as a beginner: 1. Learn the Rules: Ensure a solid understanding of chess rules, including how each piece moves and the basic principles of the game. 2. Tactics Practice: Focus on common tactical motifs like forks, pins, and discovered attacks. Solve puzzles regularly to improve pattern recognition. 3. Openings Basics: Start with simple openings. Learn key principles like controlling the center and developing pieces efficiently. 4. Mid Game Strategy: Understand key concepts like pawn structure, piece activity, and king safety. Study classic games to grasp strategic ideas. 5. Endgame Fundamentals: Learn basic endgame principles, such as king and pawn endings. Mastering endgames can make a significant difference. 6. Play Regularly: Engage in both online and over-the-board games. Analyze your games to identify mistakes and areas for improvement. 7. Review Grandmaster Games: Analyze games played by strong players. Focus on understanding their thought processes and strategic decisions. 8. Chess Books and Resources: Yes it works. Invest time in reading chess books and online resources tailored for beginners. They provide structured learning. 9. Use Chess Software: Explore chess-playing apps, databases, and analysis tools. They can help you analyze your games and identify weaknesses. In my opinion ches.com is the finest one. 10. Join a Chess Community: Participate in chess forums, clubs, or online communities. Discussing games with others can enhance your understanding.Trust me it is worth . Should be a balanced approach to studying different aspects of the game, like learning from victories and defeat are key to master this game.
