pfren doesn't do "polite". His range tends to span the stretch from "sarcastic" to "scathing".
On the other hand, I've always found his comments to be informative and... setting to one side any personal abuse... accurate as well.
Comment #12 may have been the result of a misunderstanding in language translation because it's obvious the OP was thanking for the information ( he previously was taught wrong. )
