How Do I Improve In Bullet
Then learn how to play well, but fast.
Play blitz to improve in bullet. Play rapid to improve in blitz.
Ok but bullet-tailored advice:
- Use premoves.
- Learn your opening BY HEART. Don't spend more than 10-15 seconds on it (assuming it's a 1|0 game).
- Checks steal the most time from your opponent. In time scrambles, while you're not in a simple, winning endgame, focus on giving as many checks as possible (ideally safe but it doesn't really matter) and keeping your king in a place safe from checks.
- LEARN YOUR ENDGAMES BY HEART (simple winning ones) You should know how to premove the ENTIRE endgame. Trust me, I've won an endgame with only 200 milliseconds left on my clock at the end.
- Don't worry much about making blunders, it's very common. Just spend your OPPONENT's time checking for blunders, first theirs then yours if possible. If the piece is still blunders after your opponent moved, take it!
- This applies for every time control but NEVER RESIGN. In bullet chess you never know if your opponent doesn't know how to handle time scrambles, you may win on time even in a losing position.
That's basically all I can think of. The last one can apply to rapid too, once I won a 10|0 game down around 10 points of material on time with 1.1s on the clock. Whoever says bullet is useless, well kinda but no.
Currently I play very fast to win on time, although I realize that's not the best way to improve.
