How long did it take you to get an elo of 1000 in chess.

I've been playing chess for about 3 months now and I haven't gotten any better at it than when I started.

Im just giving my 2 cents here. I have atleast 50 emails on file for people cheating. Ive concluded between 10% -30% of opponents cheat on any given day. Ive actually learned how to see it . How to catch it. Now I can see when someones partially cheating. The point is, If i have that many emails from chess dot com , than atleast tripple the ammount cheated and got away with it. You can not use your online rating as your true chess knowledge. No WAY!!!!

I think if you play higher rated opponents often and actually train towards your rating you can use your online rating as your true chess knowledge.

Where did you get triple from? Sounds like you're just making up stats lol.

Snowchlobe

I don't think you should let cheaters ruin your online experience. Just play online, and if you suspect someone of cheating, report them. Don't just quit altogether.

Snowchlobe

i don't think online games should be for serious chess improvement. i just use it for wasting time when i'm bored.

OTB chess is more fun and helps you improve more.

It took me a little time only because I practised chess watched chess video lesson from YouTube and played otb games on chess club and after a few time I got information about chess.com later so I improved first and then only played online

AurenChess

not too long

for rapid it took like 3 months of serious play maybe a bit less but I keep bouncing above and below 1k

Hey, what's the avg elo

On chess.com the average rating is different than on other sites. I was at the 50th percentile when I was 660 here. On gameknot.com I was at the 50th percentile when I passed 1550 (which is classical average).

Snowchlobe

1900 FIDE is the average rating so about 2300 chess.com should be the average rating of somebody who plays OTB chess.

what is bro on

Finally, after a year since I started chess, I reached an elo of 1000 in Rapid. I do nt care about Blitz and Bulet as I can work on them later.

Congrats!
