How many tactics should you do per day to get to 2400+?

Hi, I'm currently 1800 in blitz and 1900 in bullet.

My question is how much can tactical training really help me? Can it help me get to 2400+?

I'm 25 and would like to one day stop being a scrub. Am I too old? How many tactical puzzles do I need to complete per day? I rarely ever train tactics.

(I am not in position to help you since I am lower than you, but I am in a position to ask.)

I don't know, I haven't invested much time in tactics training... Only when I was a beginner around 800-1200 elo

I guess …

If I'm not mistaken 2400+ is already master level, no? Which means you are competing with professionals, which means people who play chess over 8 hrs a day, so yep... Gonna be hard to compete with those...

I may be wrong but I think you also will have to study endgames and other valuable chess concepts in addition to tactics. Also positional play is important.

I think you should PM them. It doesn’t seem to me that they are reading this.

You are 1500 rapid. Work on that, you don't want to be the 2400 blitz player but be stuck on 1800 OTB forever.

I'm not 1500 rapid, I don't play rapid. If I tried I would be much higher than 1500 rapid, I only use it for 'mess about games'.

Looking at your blitz games, your knowledge of opening theory is almost non-existent and your positional play is just awful.

Your definitely right about opening theory, I don't study it at all but I'm not sure what you mean by "positional" I've never understood when people say I don't play well positionally, not sure how to improve it either.

Since you've looked at my games if my opening and positional chess are terrible what am i actually good at?

@ChesswithNickolay meant @Jalex13 not you.

Then don't blame me when you reached 2400 blitz but can't get a title irl

I was genuinely just asking a question.

Intuition and tactics.

I'd say my intuition is decent but doesn't that combine with positional play? Also the tactics doesn't make sense, how can my tactics be good, I don't train tactics.

Apart from opening theory what do you suggest to improve my positional chess?

What is the thing in your profile picture called? I feel it is tasty. Sorry this is off topic.

It's called: chocolate with some more chocolate underneath but it's white chocolate with a chocolate base.

No, it doesn't. Your positional play is non-existent, heck, you don't even know what positional play even is. If you disagree with the tactics, we'll just call it "logic".

To improve your positional chess, you must first play longer games. It just is how it is. If you want to still play blitz go with 5|5.

I play 3+2 in blitz, I don't see how 5+5 would be much different, so there's no material to study that would improve positional chess?

Long name… I will just call it “chocolate x” . If I found another chocolate thing and I thought it was tasty, then I will call it “chocolate y” and continue.

There is material to study. But if you want to play positionally you must learn how to do so with more time on your clock. Thinking for 20 seconds on your move is the minimum. As you play longer games, your positional sense will develop and you will calculate and play positionally faster and faster until you can do so in 3|2.

But my classical chess IRL is about the same level.

Well you were using my low rapid rating as a way to critise my chess but I'm not sure my rapid rating is relevant?

Chess study is quality over quantity.

The quality of your study is much more important than the quantity of your study.

Doing 300 tactics a day does nothing if you cannot remember the pattern, motif, and "why" the tactics worked.

Doing 3 tactics a day and thoroughly understanding the pattern, motif, and the "why" behind the tactic will do much for your improvement.

well said! memorizing is the only way here. But One who hates to memorize the blah blah from school time, what about them? Do they feel less interest about chess? Any simpler method?

I would say understanding comes above memorizing
