I started chess when I was 2 and half years old.

now I am 10 years old.

As for me, a schoolfriend showed me the moves of chess, a lifetime ago when I was 11, (mid-seventies now). Good fun, no-one at school much good, all beginners, I played briefly. Then not at all, until recently, I'm still very much a beginner. I like chess, but I'm very surprised to discover that the experience of facing you across an internet chessboard is very intimidating! Why does that happen? I don't know, it's puzzling, but real, and I wish it didn't because it puts me off playing.

You need to know one opening that you feel very comfortable and solid for you!

Than you need to understand very well the principles of any opening.

When you will feel in control at least for the first 10 moves you will be on the right path.

My parents have pictures of me learning Chess about 15 years ago at the age of 3.  I joined Chess.com on July 13, 2015 and improved immensely going from around 1137 to 2161 in a little under 5 years.

I hope to be a GM sometime in the next 2 years.   I complete my advanced joint Masters degree programs this Fall and hope to pursue a Doctorate degree in programming so that I can one day run the space program for the colonization of planets within our solar system.

All of the genius to semi-genius types that I know throughout the world share the common affinity for Chess.  It may be coincidental based on random commonality, but I like to think it is not.  

So at 13 years old you were 1137 after 10 years of hard work.

And at 18 you are 2161 a +1024 in 5 years?

You are ~14 years old.

I learned when I was 4 lol... I'm 11 now and my US Chess Rating is 1237

I started recently and my age is 27.

Learned when I was around 8.   Then it was considered something that only nerdy boys did in high school and I stopped playing.  But now, have come back to it 2 years ago.  So 8... then a huge gap, then 22.

I started since  7-8
