i agree.. based on my stats, average elo of opponent when i won is 1202 regardless my 1300 something rating.. so it is not a surprise actually that i lost many times to 1100 and 1200 players.. i guess you're right, just keep playing and finally i will find a rating which i really belong..

One tip I can give you is when solving puzzles you need to spend more time with each problem. You're trying to solve them too fast (guessing) which teaches both bad habits and is not that great for learning. Try to solve them for accuracy instead of rating. That should eventually improve your puzzle rating a lot as well.

thanks nexim, good tip

Good point on the puzzles.

I feel like we need a chess shrink ha, I to same thing. If we are tired should not make a move, don't play chess on your phone, be patient look at board on your computer, setup another board or something, either physical or on lichess and work through moves.   I am too in the midst of a 10% reduction in rating, and like WTF makes you feel like quitting all the current games and starting over.

Good point somebody brought up, I mostly do dailys -50 -+200 points so for the most part I have been playing higher rated players which is making it hard

Thread is 2 years old and the OP hasn't been online for some time.  Clearly went downhill in rating, so wasn't playing well enough to keep winning.  And I see this on the forum rather frequently.  Old threads dug up by people who left after some decline.  Often (mostly) recently left.  I have a hunch that the Chess boom caused by The Queen's Gambit has caused such an influx of new players, playing at early-intermediate ratings but strengths all over the map, that it discourages a lot of people who might not be doing what it takes for them to improve and keep pace.

Just a hunch...

I agree with much of what oldtimer001 said, but I disagree with him/her on the age issue. I think age does matter. As we age we are not as sharp and focused as we were when we were young. Also, older people have more distractions. Health issues, for example.
