As White, you should play Nf3 and d4 to control the center, then get your king safe with moves such as Be3, f3, and 0-0. You can switch it up a little if you want, but that it the basic move order.
How to beat Sicilian

I'd say go for Alapin Variation. Easiest way to get out of sicilian traps. There's no way anyone can mess up Alapin variation

Bro u are just 700 and opponent is 1000-1200 play any thing which is not stupid and get equal , slightly better position and do not blunder you would draw or win
As far suggestion concern learn anything which u can probably u need to grow(in rating ) a bit for open Sicilian so try playing a good sideline and learn it's concept
I would suggest go for alapin or other system base opening which u can learn and understand easily gm naro has very good videos on it

Thank you guys for your suggestion, as for I have chosen two variation, open and grand prix attack.
Note by the way, the 1000 -1200 are fide rated players which I was talking about, so don't compare to our usual chess.com rating, cuz there is a huge strength difference to our chess.com user ratings and fide ratings.
there is a lot of water in the open Sicilian. the Najdorf is an ocean all its own. Nevermind the other 15 to 16 variations that black can play. if you play d4 and go into the open Sicilian, you will be playing thier game.
another idea is to learn the Alipan or the Smith morra and concentrate on one game.
Have you seen games in the 1200-1500 bracket?
yes sir.
Anti-Sicilians have their place but I would encourage the Open Sicilian because it’s an easier game for white at the intermediate level.
A lot can go wrong for black especially when they lack experience at this level.
If you’re a budding player, may be you want to enter tactical games, have fun, learn, grow as a chess player instead of utilizing anti-Sicilians as a defensive mechanism or giving black early equality.
true. the open Sicilian is a wild ride from both sides. I firmly believe that anyone can play whatever they want to.
the other consideration in suggesting a single anti Sicilian is study time. As an e4 player, you must face everything that black can play defensively.
We just need to put things in perspective first as in facing the Sicilian as an intermediate player; there is nothing to fear in an open Sicilian for white.
In the open Sicilian, white gets an easy game and maintains the initiative. White has very little to study for with accumulated experience whereas black at 1200 is lacking proficiency, variety and experience.
Comparing an anti-Sicilian is similar to a London System at the beginner level.
I still don’t understand the argument to study an anti-Sicilian?
Black gets early equality.
the accumulated experience is equal for both the white and black player at 1200. the reason why is because black wants to play the open Sicilian. if he didn't, then he would not play c5.
the reason why we can have this conceptual debate is because neither of us experience wise is 1200-1500.
the last time that I went through my MCO, I noticed that there are 16 independent variations of the open Sicilian and probably at least 60 sidelines inside those variations.
the Alipan is one game which is not the open Sicilian that black wants to play.
is it realistic for white to have to be knowledgeable of multiple avenues of play, that black wants to play to begin with?
