How to find beginner opponents?

Hello,

I've been playing on this site for a couple of weeks, focusing on the learning exercises and playing the computer.  I'm getting better, but have no reference against people.  I see how to start a game, but not how to open a room for other beginners to join in.  Am I missing something, or is there a way to play other beginners or people of similar "rank" so I can start testing my game?  Or do I have to 'know' people to invite them?  I would hope there would be an auto matching system or way to open the game for anyone of a similar status to join.  Please help.

Just go to live chess, pick a time control and click "play".  Unless you self-reported to be advanced when you signed up, you will be matched with a lower rated player. If you lose, your rating will drop so your next match should be against an even lower rated player.
