Point is both are good the caro has less room for error in the opening while the french does. The french is also a lot more aggressive and can lead to better central control and having better positioning. P.S. I also did not like leaving the b and a pawns alone and for the french it was the advanced variation
I tried it it was bad then I learned it and still dont like it
Me have 1300 something Rapid. Same here, Trying to get 1400 too even though my highest is 1630

dud play the Scotch Gambit. 1800 in 2 months. Other than that, try bashing your head against a wall 1800 in 2 months as well. They both work just as well

when I play the french I make sure my bishop is always useful:
consider this trap line where the bishop was extremely helpful
consider this line from the classical where the bishop is really strong
consider this line where the bishop is either traded down or really strong
consider this line where we played f6, so the bishop can maneuver after king castles, and black is very active with his center, pieces, and open file f for rook.
And those are the four main varatoions
