But my point is I played the french but the advanced variation sucks so I stopped
did you learn it or just tried it?
the advance variation is equal with best play

Point is both are good the caro has less room for error in the opening while the french does. The french is also a lot more aggressive and can lead to better central control and having better positioning. P.S. I also did not like leaving the b and a pawns alone and for the french it was the advanced variation
Point is both are good true the caro has less room for error in the opening while the french does lol it's the opposite, both sides have to play very actively in the french or GG. The french is also a lot more aggressive and can lead to better central control and having better positioning. true finally someone who understands. P.S. I also did not like leaving the b and a pawns alone and for the french it was the advanced variation wdym?
Yeah I just dont play enough on the weekends but I keep beating my chess coach who is really good soooo
how?
what do you mean how?
proof:
you drew vs me once you should be fine
I dont like the advanced variation cuz ur knight is on the edge of the board or u have too reposition ur knight it takes too long I mean I'm fine with both I could go back and study the advanced var or the caro-kahn so I'm on nobody's side. Also the caro is a lot better for beginners because its all about where ur pieces are. U are just getting better control on the king side for the caro while the french is either play up or down

it takes too moves e.g:
that's my main line
dud play the Scotch Gambit. 1800 in 2 months. Other than that, try bashing your head against a wall 1800 in 2 months as well. They both work just as well
K thanks!!!! That's really helpful I also dont like blocking my bishop
when I play the french I make sure my bishop is always useful:
consider this trap line where the bishop was extremely helpful
consider this line from the classical where the bishop is really strong
consider this line where the bishop is either traded down or really strong
consider this line where we played f6, so the bishop can maneuver after king castles, and black is very active with his center, pieces, and open file f for rook.
And those are the four main varatoions

yes that;s why you are 1800
Plus he wasn't playing the caro in his last few games
