How to play in closed positions?

"I find myself commonly suffering in closed positions."
++ If the center is closed, then you can and should play on the wings.
"Whenever opponent plays KID"
++ Here is an example of how to play against the King's Indian Defense: 9 b4

"benoni"
++ Sorrow for black.
"and specially hippo opening"
++ You get the center, you get a lead in development. The usual plan is to prepare Be3, Qd2, Bh6 to trade off Bg7 and leave black weak on his dark squares and/or advance h4-h5 to open the h-file for Rh1.
"I know my game is ruined." ++ It is not.

Look for opportunities to create pawn breaks to open up the position and create tactical opportunities. Evaluate the consequences of pawn breaks carefully, considering the resulting pawn structure and potential weaknesses.

Closed positions typically require Pawn Levers in order to activate your pieces and to gain enough space to organize an attack.
A few examples:
In the Advance French, Black holds the White d-Pawn in place with his own d-Pawn, and creates a Pawn Lever with his c-Pawn.
