I refer to this puzzle from chess.com [Site "Chess.com"] [Result "*"] [SetUp "1"] [FEN "r4rk1/pp1qQppp/5n2/3p4/3p4/8/PPPP1PPP/RNB1R1K1 b - - 0 13"] 13... Qxe7 14. Rxe7 Rae8 15. Rxe8 Rxe8 16. Kf1 * final suggested move in is Kf1 but I was wondering if 16. h3 or g3 would do as well. I get that Kf1 probably is specifically better for this situation, as takes... maybe I'm over thinking it?

Urg sorry guys the formatting is really ugly. I'm on a mobile phone now. Is there a way to pretty this post up using the mobile client?

I figured out how to get the link to your puzzle.

The problem with moving a pawn forward is that although it does save the king, Black plays Re1+ anyway, winning the bishop and paralyzing the knight. Kf1! stops the rook from going there.

After Kf1, White can play d3 and/or b3 to develop their pieces and avoid any problems with Re1, and possibly f3 or g3 later to move the king forward. (g3 is likely better though; otherwise, the knight can immediately fork the king on f2 and take the h-pawn.)

Thanks, I probably didn't think hard enough about it before posting.

Kf1 is the move here to prevent the rook from feasting on the back rank.

Thanks again for prettying up the PGN!
