First time playing with a friend. Neither of us knew what to do and my partner accidentally set up a daily game. Does he have to fix this (not sure how) or is there something I can do?

No moves have been played. You should be able to abort the game.
You'll probably have to just play it out. Because you are a gold member the system will automatically put you on vacation if you don't make a move in a game. It's for busy folks. You can still play the game as fast as you can. It only means you have a whole 24 hours to make a move.

You can also offer a draw, then accept the resulting rating adjustment per side.
