I am scared of losing elo when playing against humans in chess. Does anyone have any tips to help me? It will be appreciated.

Would it help if I was telling you that any online rating is no actual rating, like for real? WOulkd it help if I was telling you, you've got zero Elo to lose as long you're so subrated like you would not be rated in real life by aby Chess Federation? (except maybe some kiddo blitz&Rapid ratings that are worth only an encouragement).

thanks! it is verry helpful and thank you for taking your time to type this

The more games you play, the less significant each individual game will feel, which can help reduce the fear of losing Elo.

what ill recomend is playing unrated games so you can get confortable when playing against real person.

trying when games to ignore the elo of your oponent can be really helpful .

and also learn a lot with videos or coachs if you are in a club.

with that i gain 1000 elo last year on chess.com

practice and good luck for your journey grin.png

You have nothing to lose, you just gain experience. And elo is just a number, if it drops you got weaker opponents and that way you gain back some points by winning. Elo just shows you skill level.

I play a lot of unrated games and puzzles. It is better than playing against bots and it makes me less nervous. Unfortunately, I'm most likely underrated now and winning a game feels less satisfying when you don't gain rating.

Hey, it’s alright! So am I, and I’m quite low rated. You can watch some streamers and get lessons. Don’t worry about it, once you start playing, you will improve and get rating points!

Don't be scared to lose ELO, with practise, it will increase. That is what happened to me. I was stuck at 700 for all formats and now, after 3 months, I am over 1000 in every format and in bullet I am 1400. So try to improve your skill by watching chess videos on YouTube and your rating will gradually increase.

Hello, TheChessPlaye happy
May I ask what exactly are the "chessvideos on YouTube" have you watched to have had your ratings increase? Are they free; and what are the names or titles of the "chessvideos" on YouTube? Thank you in advance happy
