I Don't Win, Rather Opponent Loses

I usually win not because I play well. Rather because my opponents somehow miss their chance. I definitely make mistakes even when I am in clear advantage. Specially when opening ends, I have no clear plan at all. How can I minimize these mistakes and get hold of any winning opportunity?

Like here. Look at from move 11 to 14. I threw away a clear advantage here. Because I had no idea what I should do after move 11 when all the developments were done.

Why yes we all win games because our opponent made errors. And lose games because we made errors. If neither side makes errors, the game will be drawn.

And yes, after you are fully developed, you have to look for a plan. Thats when strong players spent their time.

And dont worry if the plans are not always optimal; a bad plan is still better than no plan.

P.s.: Either way this was a good game and you won.

The key to getting over this is to realize that's...just how the game works.

"Chess, when played perfectly, always ends in a draw" isn't just a sarcastic quip used to make fun of hilariously bad games. It is a genuinely true statement.

i'd recommend reading Jeremy Silman's Reassess Your Chess 4th Edition, a very educational book that can help you find what move to play next by focusing on the imbalances of the position.
