I got into crystal league (and other leagues) by doing basically nothing. Meanwhile, my rapid and daily scores have been getting worse and worse. I don't know how they work it out. Probably by the amount of time spent on the site, or something. For example, doing puzzles (same result if you try every possibility until you find the winning move, as if you had found the winning move straight away).

I think it's a gimmick to keep you on the site. They're got to feed you a line that you're getting better, otherwise you'll go away in a huff. I notice a couple of other odd things, too. In the forums, try suggesting that every individual's got a hard limit after which they cannot get better unless they devote hours a day to just doing nothing but chess... Try it and see what response you get.

Yeah, it's a business. But there are some psych tricks going on here. Especially with the "leagues" thing.

You ever played league of legends? 5v5? now thats torture. chess is 1v1 its all good. if you go against harder players you can just learn from that i should probably get a sub tho to review my games
