I hit 1200 in rapid!

My account was made in 2023, but I only played 3 or 4 games and stopped. I started playing again 3 months ago (29th October 2024), and after about 800 rapid games, I’ve jumped from around 400 elo to 1200! I am very happy with my progress, but I know I’m still very much a beginner 😅.

How in the world did you get from 400 to 1200. I have been 400 for 3 years now
Other than just playing the game, I have also done a lot of puzzles on Lichess, and I also watch NM Nelson’s rapid series, where he clearly explains his thought process while playing games of various ratings. His channel is called „Chess Vibes” on YouTube if you’re interested. That’s about it. I know basically 3 openings (Italian Game, Queens Gambit, Caro Kann), but most openings you can counter by just following basic fundamentals.

#6 Yes you’re right. The hardest part is definitely looking back at your games and acknowledging moments where you messed up and learning from those mistakes. People who play and do 0 reflection will never go anywhere.

Good for you! I've gone from 100 to 902 in bullet. It was very hard. And 200 to 708 in blitz. And 300 to 731 in rapid!
