Real happy about it. Still a newbie (started basically in December) and always going through peaks and troughs daily but yeah rapt.

Coming from a skating background which is imo harder as there’s much less time in the end and progression and danger go hand in hand I’m using similar strategies applied to Chess.

I’ve played 500+ games already which is fundamentally wrong to start I know but for me is literally nothing (it flew by in a flash).

My aim was to get to 1k by the end of February which I’m on track to achieve.

Happy days!

With enough practice, study, and determination you'll get there in no time. On a side note, when I say "study" its not necessarily just reading chess books. Studying also comes in the form of watching videos, taking lessons, and analyzing your own games with a computer. Anyways, good luck on your journey to the land of the quadruple digits.

Man not to be a debbie downer but the chess studying material on the whole

Is very what’s the word... unhelpful? My personal opinion as to why people struggle with Chess is because the learning/study material isn’t good to actually read/digest. The structure is quite suspect.

I’ve gone through half of the logical book and it’s basically a foreign language to me lol.

It’s all words no pictures

Or it’s very foreign I suppose.

What I mean to say is simplify as much as possible I dunno could be ranting but it’s making it harder to understand

Ahh, you're having a hard time with annotations like e4, Nf3, Rxb6, and 0-0 I assume. I could teach you how to understand these annotations in a practice game or two. If its something else you're having a hard time with, show me some screenshots of the book you're reading and I'll try to make sense out of it.
