I stole somebody's queen and they resigned before I could get a king/rook fork in.

This is the highest rating I have ever got. (145) rapid. And I am afraid of lowering it. I remember when I hit rock bottom: 100. I played with another person who was 100 and won. Then my rating got higher and lower over and over. This is the highest I have got and I am afraid that I will lower it back down to what it used to be. So I have been playing with bots. I beat Sven, who is 1100 Elo, but I am still afraid. Any suggestions?

I challenged myself to keep on playing bong cloud until I won a game. Lost over 100 points. Yeah, it sucks, but now I’ll grind back up again.

I regularly play a variant of the bong cloud as black, and usually win. I found that the one that works best for me is advancing the E pawn by one square only as opposed to 2 squares as is the traditional way. Then comes the predictable bishop check on the king, and then box em out with pawns and have fun. Especially in blitz and bullet, u tend to win cuz they spend too much tiem scratching their bals and trying to figuring out what to do.

The one that caused me to lose over 100 points of elo was the sodium attack. And I only tried playin like that cuz it was the way I used to play as a kid before my dad got mad at me for sukin and basically stopped playin with me. Caused me to retire at age 5 untill I seen the queens gambit around last year and picked up the game once again

I play e4 and have completely avoided the open Sicilian for years, black players find its plans easy to remember and they get a good attacking game against white which suits their style (which is usually an attacking player) and it really got on my nerves...

I only play the  alapin now with Nf3 and c3 and there are plenty of traps in it for the unwary black player....also black Sicilian players are going to naturally be attacking players and it slows things down to their disadvantage

wheepes

do more puzzles. it will help

My advice would be to completely forget about your rating and ignore it for the next year. Just hammer basic tactics!! I know that we all get obsessed with our rating but my approach this past year has been to prioritise learning and skill improvement over how high my ranking is. I would rather lose a game, drop in rating and learn something to improve my skill, rather than never play and never improve.

Also don't waste your time playing bots. Bots aren't humans, so if you want to beat humans, get more experience playing against humans.

Try playing games with high rated players like 1500-2000, and after the game, they can help you analyse it. Don’t worry about losing rating to them because, their rating is rlly high you won’t lose any rating points, or play unrated with them

ELSE, u can try to predict what the opponent will move and then block their moves.

or start with the end in mind.

To avoid falling behind in rating, I highly recommend taking notes of games played, analyze those games with any chess board at home or online via chess.com, this will surely give birth to greater game play will sharpen your vision overall to remain intact, plenty of practice utilizing the "recommended training" (lessons & puzzles) required of you after every games lost/won/draw..... please take heed to these required activities and you will soon find yourself climbing the ranks in due time.....you can do it as I have taken much attention to the analysis of my games. ♟️🗒️✍🏾 #signupforlowcostmembership #goldmember #proudtobe

I take plenty of time away from the board simply to focus on study of recommended training lessons and puzzles required after each game, I search, write down moves, and play them out on my personal chess board to return back online doing much greater than yesterday ♟️🗒️✍🏾

I have also forfeited many daily games just for reshaping my focus on what needs to learned and the results are amazingly impressive, this you can do and better you will become ♟️🗒️✍🏾

If you are afraid of lowering your ratings that means you have a wrong perspective. The true feeling of winning in chess feels like zen aka in a relax mode.

I figured it out! Let me explain. So I was depressingly losing to Nelson.. (As usual) and after losing for the 7th time to him today I was about to give up and lye on my bed in sadness when I googled a topic out of rage that helped people beat Nelson. Before you say'' But that's not helping you with chess skills! You are just cheating.'' It did. The topic said that if you don't attack too much and trade queens with a good defense, you will be fine. And I realized that I was attacking so much I forgot to defend. And I thought only castling was gonna cut it. With that, I beat him, and learnt something new so I can be a better player in the future! PS: I still hate him from how much I failed though, and won't be using scholars mate for awhile. LOL.

Also because of my rating issue, and you guys, I am now forcing myself to do at least one game of computer or rated each day.

mindful_Ra4

Truly, your rating means nothing, at any level. Just play good chess. That happens at every level, at every move.

That ain't cheating, that's just research. I don't know how anyone could accuse you of cheating for that.

Playing Black against Nelson you can play 1 ... e6, 2 ... Ke7, 3 ... Kd6, 4 ... Kc6, 5 ... Kb6, 6 ... a6, 7 ... Ka7 and then start playing.  Sometimes you need to add some other pawn moves to avoid mate in one.  It is a way to pass some time and a bot doesn't care if you troll it.

Try to trade queens with Nelson in the opening, then he gets really dumb
