I have noticed over a series of games that am beating folk over 100pts higher (400 or more) yet losing to players only 30 or 40 higher ?? 🤔🤔

Same, especially losing to guys rated 150 points lower than me ... ugh. Incidentally, your point? You win some, you lose some. If anything would be the right proverb for chess, that's the one! It's the same all the way up to the world's elite.
