I think that the 7 day free trial is a very good option, if you can simply remember to cancel it before 168 hours pass if you decide you don't want it.
A lot of people don't seem to understand that a week is a defined period of time.
You should definitely try out the free trial on a good week. Go explore new openings and take lessons. It has helped me a lot on thinking about my next move. If you come to like diamond, you should just buy it.
If you want to get better at chess, unlimited use of tactics trainer, this sites' lessons, and the videos are all great resources for helping you get there. A diamond membership buys such things.

Worth it? Yes.. necessary to get better at chess? No
One benefit of a diamond membership that often goes unnoticed is the ability to download a PGN for every video. Not all of them are annotated, and not all annotations are the same. But Sam Copeland, for instance, puts so much effort into his PGNs that if you collect them you essentially have a chess publication by a titled player that you can browse in ChessBase or HIARCS. They can be just as useful, if not more useful, than the videos themselves, depending on your needs.

NO, no suscription is worth a penny, chess,com does not even hear your complaints, you can report 300 cheaters in a day but they don't take any, unless of course you are nakamura or some other big chess streamer, thats why they are being sued
