I was flying through all of the bots until I met Laura. I can beat her sometimes but most of the time she absolutely destroys me! Why the sudden hike in difficulty? And ... is it just me??

Mhhh. I had no problem with Laura, but I am stuck with Jade. I experienced a big step from 1200 to 1300. Or is it just imagination 🙄
I am relatively new to chess. I thought I loved the game, until the Laura bot beat any love for chess out of me. She let me know this game is not for me.

haha, I had a hard time with azeez.... I still can’t beat him every game. After azeez I beat laura the 1st game and don’t think I’ve given one game to her. Now I’m stuck on Elana (I think that’s her name, the one that says she’s a teacher). I think the reason is that I’ve been playing the kings indian and these bots aggressively push pawns first. My suggestion (I guess to both of us now that I just had this thought) is to try playing a specific opening solidly. For me, I guess I need to find an opening that counters aggressive pawn play. I’m basically going to beat all the bots, at least through intermediate, before I start playing people. I’m a shy pooper.

I've been playing for years so can normally beat all the bots to 1600 but I'm actually sick with Covid at the moment, now Laura destroys me nearly every time! avoid Covid if you want to have a clear head for chess! (and for many other reasons too of course)..

I'm a softcore gamer. i wanted to love chess again and again. Laura kicked my butt now I'm tilted. BOO! I'll probably cancel my membership on day 6. They should have a much smoother intro experience that lets you win most all the time until, say, 1500. New gamers just hate grinding against bots.

btw, I'm just salty. Laura isn't that hard. You just need to jam a bunch of games against the bot and memorize their patterns. Use assisted mode to figure out why each key move sucks or is good. After some time banging your head into the wall/keyboard you will checkmate.

None of these make any sense at all.
If you hate grinding against bots then don't grind against bots.

I don't pay money to chess.com so I can't play against all bots, but according to the description she plays agressive and a lot of people have a hard-time defending, that might be the reason.

Should you start with bots? Or just go right into games?
I hope the creators dissolve her consciousness in the future while she's active to respond to it, like a ChatGPT bot and that she suffers while her memory is deleted. Screw her.
