New to this app. 

Going through the lessons and practice with the puzzles. 

I am slightly irritated by the pass / fail condition without explanation. 

If I don’t see the solution and get it wrong. 

Without any reason, what have I learned. 

Not the first app I have tried with the same problem. 

I do actually agree with this. It's not just about seeing/finding the solution by yourself but learning the thinking to actually find that solution. This is faster achieved by showing what you actually did wrong.

I often find the puzzles and some lessons frustrating, for the same reasons.

I believe the most important thing to learn as a beginner/novice is learning how to think. The puzzles/tactics doesn't teach you that.
