If you're at 100 elo just follow basic opening principles, but pawns in the center and develop minor pieces toward the center. Watch out for hanging pieces, opponents will tend to hang their pieces a lot at the 100 elo range.

Also learn how to play against the Wayward Queen Attack and the Scholar's Mate, which tend to be popular around 100-500 elo.
