The London System is a popular and good opening to learn as a beginner because it provides a way of playing general moves to more safely navigate the opening and get to the middlegame where the "real" chess begins.

Compared to other openings, "systems" don't require nearly as much memorization or opening theory to successfully play to at least an equal position.

Because by playing system like openings you deprive yourself of many different positions. By playing London system, you will be playing similar moves every time as white. Beginners need to gain experience in different positions to optimize their improvement.

The thing is, you don't need to be oriented on openings too much right now, as most of us weaker players do not really know main lines for too many moves.

Choose some opening, learn 2-3-4 moves and just play from there. Avoid system like openings to have some variety in positions you get. For instance I mostly play Ruy Lopez when I get e4 e5. Against other things, after a few months, I do have broad answer what will I play, but I do not know too many best moves in any of the openings I play. As black, I play sicilian against e4 and Slav against d4 (when  opponent plays c5 on move 2), but other things are certainly viable.

I wrote a blog post with detailed tips which can help beginner players. If you have the time and want to read it, here it is:
