So, I was badly losing the game but we started with ten minutes each. He had two queens chasing my king across the board and is clearly about to win, but he wasted too much time. He lost due to the fact that he wasn’t paying attention to how much time he had left.

Note for new players: always pay attention to how much time you have left.

Also, new players. You can check the settings somewhere in the right corner after you click play and you can enable premoves. Using them against other beginners in blitz gives you a huge advantage and also everyone uses them at higher levels so it's good practice.
