It isnt hard to mate with only a rook, basically get your king in the right spot then move the rook to the back rank, sort of like a back rank mate with your king as the pawns. For a bishop and a knight i suppose you just use a bishop to force opponents places.

It's fun to be able to master it, but for all practical purposes, it's a waste of time. The number of times in your career that you'll be faced with the need to do it is about 1/1,000. Better spend your time with practical endgames.
