Middlegame issues part 1

Im playing black here:

I often struggle with these kinds of positions. In this game, I spent over five minutes on a single move, going from 12 minutes to just 7, because I wasn’t confident in my plan. It felt difficult to determine the main strategy here.

For example, I had a check available, but it didn’t lead to anything meaningful. I also wanted to activate my rook, and I noticed I had two attackers on his knight. However, my opponent didn’t seem to have any immediate threats either, he had a check that didn’t achieve much, and his knight was positioned aggressively on the front line in my territory.

Because I couldn’t find an obvious move or plan, I started feeling stressed. The time I spent thinking made me more stressed, and I worried that a poor decision would make the position even harder to handle.

In the end, I chose a move without a clear plan (Nc6). After analyzing the game later, I noticed moves like h5, but I would never have considered that during live play. I also didn’t want to trade queens because after Qb7, I felt he could start checking me and leave my queen poorly placed.

Are there any key concepts or ideas I overlooked in this position? How should I approach situations like this, and are there any obvious takeaways I could use to improve?

check then take d4 attacking the rook . if the rook move up then u qg1 if the rook moves to diff file then nd4 free knight.

what do you mean? if check and he go Kc1 then he still have two defenders on the knight so I can not just take it
