Hello! So I recently did a puzzle, where I thought I was taking advantage of a blunder, but according to the analysis the opponents move was actually their best move and I don't understand why.
I assume there's a better way to do this than with screenshots, but unfortunately this is the best I can do.
So the puzzle started with me attacking white's queen with my bishop, from a square that is protected by my rook.
So obviously if the queen takes my bishop, I'll take the queen, trading a bishop for a queen. Which is exactly what happens and is the solution to the puzzle:
What I don't undertand is why the computer labels the white queens taking of my bishop as the best move, because to me it seems like a blunder. As far as I can tell, I'm not attacking the D1 square, so if white moved their queen there they would save their queen and leave my bishop with only being able to take the white bishop at F1, which would then be taken by their king. So they save their queen, and get an equal trade. But the computer says trading their queen for my bishop is their best move, and I just really don't understand why.
Obviously, in the puzzle white shouldn't play Qxb5 even if it is the "best move". Play 2. Qd1 and 3. Kxf1 and let black find the fork. Or even play 2. Qd1 Bxf1 3. exf5 and then what? Who knows.
The guy who put the puzzle into the database did a terrible job. This way the puzzle is just awful.
