The best way to improve is to fight on. Never resign. I've won a lot of games when I've been hopelessly behind in material and position and just playing on hoping for a draw. I lost this game but it's a good example because I had a mate in 1 which I missed. I'm annoyed I missed the mate but playing on is the best way to gain experience and learn to play with what you have left.
