You can find a lot of resources online to learn, some free and some paid. Youtube has a lot of content for free, if you can take the time to do a bit of searching and all. Similar with google really.
That said, new to the game, take some time to learn how the pieces move and rules like Castling, En Passant, and that. Then focus on Opening Principles, learn them well and use them all the time! Slay puzzles, on here, or elsewhere online. Lots of puzzles. Play slower chess, avoid fast time controls that give you no time to think about your moves. Accept that losing is part of the learning progress and you will lose thousands of games over your time playing, so don't get depressed or frustrated when you lose a lot, every new player has before you and will after you- it doesn't mean the game isn't for you!
And if you need some tips or further guidance, ask players, many are happy to answer questions or help out in other ways.
Hello all, just joined. Never have really played. Don't know anything hardly about chess. The lessons on here, where do I start? I'd like step by step. Thanks!
