stalemate is a draw :)
New Player, so confused why this is a draw?

i think there is a bug with chess.com ive seen funny things in my games, some guy moved his castle and king at the same time and once a pawn captured my pawn but not like it normally did, i think there is an issue with the servers

It is black's move. There is no legal move he can make. Yet he is not in check. As there can be NO further moves made the game is over. But you have not checkmated your opponent. Therefore it is stalemate--a draw.

Funniest thing I've read all day, but seriously str33 like everyone else has said you are in a stalemate and black has no legal moves, therefore draw

New players keep playing without reading the rules first, lol.
One such thread just every day, when not more.
Yeah. There seems to be a lot. Actually I think it would be an idea for chess.com to show a pop-up thing the first time (only the first time) someone joins the site and does a stalemate “do you know why this is stalemate” etc. Same thing for insufficient mating material and so on.

Your question has been asked millions of times by beginners... just watch some pogchamps and you'll get it.

I'm sorry everyone is being so nasty. It's natural to ask a question and a lot of these people are insecure about their own game and are looking for another player to look down on. The problem is them and not you.

No, the problem is this has been posted probably hundreds, if not thousands of times.
It's unfair that their doing this, but they, and frankly I, am tired of these endless forums.

tbf not all rule booklets include all the rules. could be a faulty manual. actually i just recently saw on wikipedia that certain endgames were discovered that were so long they were given a 75 move rule but then even longer endgames were discovered so they changed all endgames back to the 50 move rule...
I am playing as white, I just moved my king from e7 to f7 to checkmate him and this is a draw? I don't understand why this is a draw, if someone could help explain I would greatly appreciate it!
