Normal rate of progression?

Hi guys-
I’ve been playing since around December 2018 and I started at a grand 592 in blitz. (Yes I know blitz is terrible for my chess). Since then, I have slowly but steadily improved until just recently reaching 1300. (Still in blitz) Firstly, I was wondering: is this a normal rate of improvement? Am I slow? Fast? Average? Just out of curiosity...

Also I was wondering, since obviously increasing from 600-700 or even 1200-1300 is infinitely easier than increasing from 1900-2000 or the like, if any higher rated players could recount what ‘humps’ and plateaus they encountered on their journeys up the rating ladder so I can have an idea of where I might temporarily (or permanently) level out. My line of improvement on my stats graph has been pretty straight so I was wondering when I will start encountering flat stretches.

Also as a quick note, I have improved just slow enough that I don’t think it has been adjusting to my level, and I definitely feel that I am improving.

Thanks in advance...

Everyone improves at different rates.

The more you improve, the harder improvement becomes.

It took me 15 years to get to 1500 at blitz from only playing blitz.  I hope that is a sufficient answer for you.  Don't play only blitz!!

It's very possible to improve from 1000 to 1100 even in few weeks. But it's much harder to improve from 1900 to 2000. I know players who've been improved from 900 to 1150+ just in one month. But, let's say from 1750 to 2000 (same 250 points) could take may be a year for you. Or, may be you even cannot reach this 2000 mark never. Who knows? Also possible that you can grow fast even on 2000 and higher, but it's very rare thing, and not in one month. Generally, every next point is harder then previous one.

If you only started in Dec 2018 that's actually very good progression indeed. However if you're only playing online blitz you're probably developing many bad habits and setting yourself a fairly low ceiling. I would expect you to plateau now, or very soon.

Yeah playing lots of blitz will develop lot's of bad habits, playing longer time controls would allow you to find you the better moves, make plans, improve your position etc...

Its definitely easier to improve in the beginning than it is later on. In my first year of playing regularly I went from 700 to 1500 but in the 2 years since then my improvement has slowed and I now have a rating of about 1900 (although it is a fair bit higher in blitz and bullet).
