Nothing worse…. When you think it’s check mate…. You move your piece with authority and confidence with a smile of on face. You can already taste the champagne. Then nothing happens. That little winning message doesn’t come up… nothing comes up! You’ve ballsed it up big style.
Haha - the absolute worst feeling in the world is this but then when your opponent moves immediately after and you hear the little “pop” of the end game message appear.

How does this occur?
Just look if the King has any escape squares or if any of the enemy pieces can be used to defend from mate.
I get that it happens in blitz and bullet, but you only play rapid and daily on here, why not just,look at the board and evaluate the position before playing the move(s)?
I don’t mean to be rude, but this honestly confuses me.
