Choose a decent opening which suits you and stick with it , concentrate on moves you make during the middle game and look out for hanging pieces and analyze the board for gaps in opponent's defence . Think before you respond to a move whose intention you don't understand .

Work on developing a plan or strategy in your games. Look for weaknesses in your opponent's position and try to exploit them while also addressing any weaknesses in your own position.


As a new member does the computer only match you against your current rating. It seems like it would take forever to climb up with small point increases starting at 400. Thank you.
