Opponent elo WAY above mine why?

Sort:

Guys I decided to play a 3 min game and I was matched with someone who has an elo that’s more than 1000 more than mine. (I am at 116 opponent was 1247 or 1147) Why did that happen? Doesn’t seem very fair to me.

Can you provide a link to the game?

Maybe no other player was available at the time.

You can limit the rating difference in the options.

As I keep saying, chess.com ratings are obviously not ELO. ELO doesnt jump all over the place like chess.com ratings do.

Obviously. ELO is not a rating system, ELO is a rock band.

The rating system is called "Elo", named after its inventor.

(And yes, chess.com doesn't use Elo, doesn't even use Glicko, they use a modified version of Glicko that's horribly volatile.)

You can do it!!
