My rating fluctuates a lot too, from a brief peak just over 1700 to low 1400s recently. But by examining the mistakes and my thinking process, I learnt some useful tips during the latest drop.

I don't succeed often, but I try to ignore the rating and focus on either solving the puzzle or understanding what went wrong.
For example, recently I realised that on a lot of failed puzzles, I considered and discarded 2 ideas because they "didn't work". But the solution was those 2 ideas combined. I was encouraged that I saw the correct tactical motifs. So now I always try to combine ideas just in case.
But like I said, I fail at this and get more stressed as the rating goes up

As Josh says in Chessmaster 11: don't move until you see it *
* I suspect he got that phrase from Bruce Pandolfini, as those exact words appear in the Searching for Bobby Fischer movie.

Hey congratulations on 1500+ puzzles rating - that is a nice milestone
p.s. Even if you later drop below 1500, that doesn't matter because you were already 1500+ and nothing can change that! Nice going on a cool milestone for you
