Go to puzzle rush and just keep going until you get confused- you'll be able to see the rating of that puzzle on the side and you'll be able to know what you need to work on

I think I'd like to get a grip on the fundamentals first before I make my own haha
also on the puzzle page, top right, is a small icon, circular arrow with a tick in the middle. this will take you to your recent rates puzzles (and maybe others) organised by date, and show the rating, target time, actual time, etc. tap the puzzle to see it. this is newish I think. I noticed it a few weeks ago when they updated the app.

I mean sure but as my example states, why was the play to check the king and for the king to move away, than the king just trading the rook and being safe. If I did that play in an online match I'm pretty sure my opponent would just take the rook 9 times out of 10. It just didn't seem like a reasonable move to me. But obviously I must be missing something here?
That's some serious improvement. I pushed from about 800 to 1300 in rapid and i thought that was impressive! Lol. Also Unus you can write outside the quote just by clicking underneath it and typing. 
I learned that I have to calculate to get the improvement. around 1000 rating there start to be multiple tactics in the problem. it's easy to go for the undefended piece and miss the deflection followed by checkmate in 3. sometimes the king goes for a walk but doesn't mate after calculating all the escape squares in which case it's the undefended piece :)
