Good idea. I looked it up. It means deserving or inspiring ridicule, absurd, preposterous, or silly. No mention of laughter. Of course, laughter could be one of several ways to express ridicule.

How to evaluate a position aside from counting material and detecting winning tactics? I often have trouble deciding who is better and go for wins even though I really should be trying to hold a draw. Another issue is that because I do not have a solid grasp of positional advantages, I have trouble finding moves that can improve my position in the midgame.
