ratings

Click on settings, then on live chess. Just set the rating range you want for outgoing and incoming challenges. There is a similar thing for daily chess.

I don't know if it is any different on the mobile app as I don't have it. I will show you desktop version:
So just click there, and then you have to click here:
And finally just the ratings here(for live chess, it is pretty similar for daily chess):
As I've said, I don't know about mobile app (I presume there is something similar), but I am not sure.

thanks for the reply. I dont have those options on the app. I found a work around though by creating a custom match. needless to say the 1700 rated guy destroyed me. 😂

You're welcome. When you get to a desktop PC try to adjust settings, and it should stick for the app as well.
As for the 1 700 guy well they tend do be tough.

It is not a quick fix, but more like a guideline for steady improvement. Have a great day.

Oh, thank you from all people like me... I didn't know these things also !

No problem, though you're doing something right as your rapid rating is slightly higher than mine.
Regardless of that, at least Youtube content is relevant for you as well, maybe something else as well.

Never mind. I think... it's more useful to play with stronger player than doing it with a weak one.
In the rational limits, of course. Not with National Masters with 2000+ raiting. ))
Seems I was reading that in one educational text-book... but the book was not about Chess game.

Now I become already calm about my current raiting... not as I was nervious about it before.
Now and then my raiting vacillates from 1350 up to almost 1600...
The main point is that subjectively I feel that now I play better than I did one year or two years ago.

It is probably objectively. It happened to me as well. After 5-6 months of playing after a long hiatus, I was around 1 300 for a month or 2. Then I felt that I am somewhat better, especially with positional placement of pieces and maybe more so... pawns. Pretty soon I began climbing to 1400 and then to where I am now, around 1 500. I am sure there will be more ups and downs, but I feel that I know more than before, even though I am still objectively pretty weak.
Lately I developed a feeling for sacrificing pawns to open up position, but I am still too big of a chicken to actually do it, as I lack visualization to be sure that it is a good move. Most of the time, after a game I see that it was either the best move or at least ok. It will take some more time to bring my game up to speed to use these kind of moves.

Chess game is a little irrational.
I meant that when I try to make my best...playing very accurately I lose a game as a rule... But sometimes I do idiotic moves... and sudddenly I win by them.

Yeah, it can happen. You make objectively bad, but attacking move for instance. There is a defense and if the opponent finds it, you are losing, but sometimes he just doesn't find it and suddenly you are winning. I don't like to rely on those, but it does happen from time to time.
I understand also that there are very hard opponents for me... Their game style is such one that it is very difficult for me fighting them.

Yes, yes... I heard not long ago the lesson on chess.com... And a teacher said that sometimes you can lose pieces and pawns... and improve your position on the board by that ! )
