I went from 600 to 2100 before I ever bought a single course. Although I did pick up two books (100 endgames you must know and How to Reassess Your Chess).
A few coaching sessions to give you direction, a study plan and some game analysis would also go a LONG way.
For someone below 1000, really, the main focus should be tactics and basic endgames IMO.
For a beginner, is RCA (Igor Smirnov) a reasonable tool for a beginner who would like to pass 1000 OTB? Specifically, has anyone personally used the "Level Up Your Chess" course and been satisfied with it?
