I am searching a chess partner between 1300 and 1600 on chessCom. I am currently 1400 on chessCom (I started on May 2021). I am searching someone who can play against me every week and analyze games. I am a bit passionnate so I hope my chess partner is taking chess seriously. So we can grow together.

I may be interested as well by my time is limited as I am undergoing coaching and training myself lol.

If you need a similar rated sparring partner that plays the English, Sicilian, Grunfeld, Modern-Pterodactyl and Englund; I’m your man.

What a remarkable collection of openings...

Haha thank-you!

I prefer imbalance, counter play and transpositions.

1. I was fortunate to learn the Sicilian 20 years ago from a strong club player and nothing has changed when I came back. He also taught me the semi-Slav.

2. I chose to get away from the kings gambit after reaching 1200 and the English was a natural migration because it’s the Reversed Sicilian as white with two tempii up and no theory.

3. Picked up the Englund gambit to spite London System players and scores well against 1500 and under players in fast time controls. Unfortunately losing players put a light on the Englund Gambit and now the refutation has become popular but I have a few side lines to fall back on.

4. Modern-Pterodactyl has transpositional opportunities into the Sicilian Dragon, Benoni and KID which I am content with.

5. Accidentally learned the Grunfeld on a 3 hour plane ride winging it against the engine set at 2500. Used it the next day for the tournament win! The Grunfeld can also transpose to the Slav and I am happy there as well.

End of the day, I am happy with equalizing the opening and achieving a playable middle game with tactical opportunities.

Do you play d3 englund or qe7 englund?

Avatar of Chuck639

I know you! Your the Englund Gambit hunter. I’m running away!

Avatar of InsertInterestingNameHere

Oh no...is that what I’m known as now?!

Ok, I’ll answer now.

d6 Charlick variation is weak. I prefer f6 lines.

I like Qe7 because it’s more flexible and can transpose to the Stockholm variation.

I have been prepping a Bc5, Ne7 but either way, it’s just to spite the London System players or for fast time controls or when I don’t want to deal with theory.

Classical time controls, I go for the Modern-Pterodactyl or Grunfeld where I can I have more time to calculate the pawn breaks and in the Grunfeld, you get a two on one or none pawn race for the end game.

Haha yeah I saw the one thread with your opponent resigning because you knew theory lol

I know the feeling when I ran into a 1900 player

Is the Stockholm good for black? After f6 exf6 Nxf6 Qb3 d5, I can see the compensation, as black has gained an extra tempo with the knight, resembles a BDG almost.

can you elaborate on this? Idk what you mean

The knight reroutes to g6 and and adds more pressure and influence. Early castling.

Oh! You mean the Rosen trap?

And I assume you mean if the opponent doesn’t fall for it, the knight reroutes to g6.

I am also looking for a chess partner. I desperately need to improve my Blitz, and would like to improve my Bullet as well.

One of my friends played that lol! I help get him from 700 to 1200 and he plays that line.

To be honest, I actually don’t play for tricks and traps despite what repertoire says.

Yes! That’s the line. I prep it playing against the engine and then my coach crushed me with h4, h5.

I haven’t had a chance to play it yet live but I may never get to.

I am enjoying the Grunfeld at the moment and that may be my OTB reply to d4.

Avatar of InsertInterestingNameHere

Ooooh. I personally think the Grunfeld is way too complicated! I play the KID. Some of my best attacking games have come out of the kid lol
