seeing tactics in games

I practice tactics, online and in books. I see patterns in exercises, but don't see them in games. Do you ask yourself every move "are there any tactics I could use here"? Or do the patterns just appear with extra training?

Even pretty strong players miss a tactic from time to time. You'll get better at it with experience, as you study chess and get better overall.

They don't look for them every move, but strong players know that tactics come in a superior position and by looking at the board in many cases they know if they should look for tactics. They've just seen many patterns during their playing days.

Just play 30 min games where you can start seeing patterns because you have more time and learn. That's how I started climbing

Playing speed chess is going to make it next to impossible to find tactics.

To find tactics, you need to have 3 of the 4 following:

Material advantage

Space advantage

Piece activity.

Weakness in the opponents position

Take your last tactic.
