hi i have been playing chess a lot when i was a kid but nothing serious i was only playing against a bot at an easy level. i’m now 17 and after i’ve watched a movie about chess i tried to play again.. i sometimes beat intermediate bots but when it comes to real 10 min matches i’m literally losing even if i try to do some openings and applicate the advice i read on internet.. am i just not smart enough or what?

You just need to develop your knowledge and experience more. Understand tactics, strategies, etc.
Get a good chess book or use reliable online resources that teach you systematically instead of just showing you videos with “smart moves”.
And keep playing - play daily levels until you’re more confident.
Have patience and a desire to learn. You’ll improve your game over time. Don’t give up.

With enough practice and a good training method, you can become an above average chess player. But it will takr you time and dedication.

1) Train tactic : you can use Lichess.org free tactics or chessTempo. It is the best way to progress as beginner. Don't focus too much on openings. It is useless at your level. Learn and master the basics. Don't hang pieces.
