What do you consider beginners? I started in December but am also 1200+. But also not anywhere near your 2100.
Should white promote the pawn to a queen?

Although the move 7 ... fxg1=N is check but does not say so in the list of moves on my laptop.
Is fxg1=N+ too many characters?

I notice that c8=Q is not shown as a check. Is it too many characters. Other checks are shown.
what?
how is c8=Q+ not shown
while c8=R+ is?
or are you comparing it to something like Qa5+?

Promoting to a Bishop is much clearer and could be played at speed.
actually if say the pawn is promoting on e8, then the queen icon in the drop down menu is above e8, then knight is on e7, rook on e6, and bishop on e5.
so technically for that 1 move only, a knight is faster

Here's a puzzle for beginners: Should white promote the pawn to a queen? Why or why not? This position came up in one of the games that I recently played.
