Should you play tournaments as a new player?

I think so, there are tournaments made for players of any rating, high and low. You could make your own, There is something nice about going for a trophy or evening being part of a big fight in a club in a team match. I would suggest going for it, you do not have to be in a club to play in a tournament. Good luck.

That's what I've been doing with daily tournaments, and it's improved my rating a lot, because, you're liking paired against higher rated players than you would be in normal matchmaking a lot of the time, so even if you win less often you still gain rating on average cause you don't loose much or any rating if they beat you, plus playing against players above your skill level helps your playing improve faster too

Yes, play in tournaments as a new player!    There are tournaments for all players.  This is a great way to get  playing experience against many kinds of players!

LOVE LOVE LOVE tournaments, maybe I am a tourney junkie. when I started last march I had entered so many tournaments some take a year to complete. All different levels, so just check the ratings,  Its funny I will get an email you made it to the 5th round of a tournament i started back in July 2021.  DO IT
