So Streaky! 🤓🤓🤓

Definitely! Although my streaks are usually more than 10 long and not 100% in any one direction. But it is weird - I was regularly beating people rated 1100 a few months back, now I'm struggling against 1000 rated players. . .
. . . . seems the sort of thing a sports psychologist might be familiar with!

Chess can be funny and unpredictable sometimes. I can go on winning streaks and losing streaks too. If I am very focused, then I can win a lot of games. But if I'm tired, then I can lose a lot too.

I am in that club was on fire went up 150 point just lost 70. It seems we can maybe get overconfident when we are winning or as Lauren said tired or bored. Or as we get better we start playing a better class of opponent.

Yup I will say that shorter time controls (for better or worse) contain more variance and are also more "streaky." This is especially true for bullet games like 1 min chess because just 10-20 minutes of good focus might be 10 games! A winning streak of 10 is nice
Comparatively, 10-20 minutes of focus in a 10 min. rapid game would just be one game. You can see how the same player could then have a 10 game winning streak or a "1-game winning streak" just because of the time control
It isn't all roses though - same applies for losing with shorter time controls too. A streaky losing swing could come up just as easily too! Longer time controls tend to be better for long-term chess improvement, but shorter time controls can be more fun if you like streaks

ha i was on a 5 game daily streak winning now on a 7 game losing. I do admit i only play vs people -50 to +200 above me

I hit a high of 1394, and then dropped below 1100 in a matter of a few days. I get so frustrated because I think I'm playing the same style, but I actually find lower ranked players tougher sometimes because they are so unpredictable.

Yeah... Look at my profile right now. I can't stop the losing streak. I don't know. I just can't! All of a sudden my rating dropped down to 1880 from 1950!
Same; I lost 7 or my last 8 rated rapid games, but it is just part of the journey and a natural (although bothersome at times) element of variance.
