14 games and 14 stalemates. Impressive. Every single game is drawn by stalemate.
To avoid stalemate, you need to ensure that the opponent's king has at least two squares which it can occupy - the current square and an adjacent square. This prevents the scenario where the opponent's king cannot run while not under check, which is the basis of stalemate.
I am sure you do not need that many pieces to attempt checkmate at your opponent.
So I started playing chess for the first time in my life and the problem is I get stalemate everytime? Why is this happening? I usually have around 7 pieces left and the computer has 1 and everytime I move the queen moves out the way until eventually I put my pieces in a good position and it says 'Stalemate' I've played 14 games and got 14 stalemates... am I doing something wrong?
