Struggling with 5-minute compared to 10- and 1- minute games.

I usually play between 800 to 950 depending on the day in both 1+0 and 10+0 but can’t even break 700 in 5+0. Is there something I’m missing?

Yes, ratings are not absolute measures of anything, like the temperature that water boils at sea level.
They reflect your standings relative to the other players in that ratings class.

Don't players average out to be around the same in each category though? I'd assume it's a very similar, if not the same, group of people, so wouldn't it make sense that people's skill levels lined up from one time control to another?
