I get what you're saying, but I also know that, if I'm going to grow to be a better player, I need to slow down and double-check on every move that I'm not leaving the door open for my opponent to deliver a killing blow.
In this 30-minute game, I get a decisive lead against a higher-rated player and then rush in to make the kill, forgetting first to ensure my own king was protected! Aaaaagh!!!
